“Nomadic Mothers” Participants Receive Certificates for Completing Digital Skills Training

Participants of the “Nomadic Mothers” Programme have received certificates after completing a series of digital skills training sessions designed to improve their access to and use of public e-services.

As part of the programme, participants completed four in-person training sessions and approximately ten online sessions, where they developed foundational digital skills and learned how to use platforms such as E-Mongolia, D-Parliament.mn, and D-Petition.

Participants shared that they hope not only to continue strengthening their own digital skills, but also to pass on what they have learned to other women and members of their communities.

The training also created space to reflect on the broader challenges of digital inclusion. Participants noted that while Mongolia continues to expand digital public services, some groups — particularly herders, persons with disabilities, and older persons — may face greater barriers in accessing and using these services.

They emphasised that digital development should therefore be accompanied by accessible training, practical guidance, and ongoing support so that no one is left behind.

As one participant reflected, “Even if digital applications are being developed, without parallel training for citizens, some groups risk being left behind.”

The “Nomadic Mothers” Programme is currently piloting a comprehensive service model that responds to the unmet care and support needs of herder women. The digital skills component of the programme is implemented by Steps Without Borders NGO.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Thousand Currents for supporting the development and piloting of a comprehensive model tailored to the realities and needs of herder women, who play an important role in sustaining Mongolia’s nomadic way of life and cultural heritage.
