“SASA! Together” Training Successfully Conducted in Bayan-Ölgii Province

From 20–23 October 2025, the “SASA! Together: A Community Mobilization Approach for Creating Effective Social Change” training was successfully conducted in Bayan-Ölgii Province.

The training brought together staff members of the Association of Parents with Children with Disabilities, including representatives from its Ulaanbaatar office and branches in Khovd, Bayan-Ölgii, and Orkhon provinces.

Over the four days, participants explored both the theoretical foundations and practical application of the SASA! Together methodology, which focuses on mobilising communities, strengthening collective action, and addressing power imbalances in order to support positive and sustainable social change.

Through participatory exercises, group discussions, and joint planning, participants developed new ideas, strategies, and tactics for SASA! activists to work collectively and strengthen broad-based local movements.

The discussions focused on how community mobilisation can contribute to:

  • ensuring the rights of every child;
  • improving access to quality education and healthcare services in soums and provinces;
  • promoting an inclusive and equitable society free from discrimination; and
  • addressing unequal power relations within communities.

The training also created a space for participants from different provinces to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and consider how the SASA! Together approach can be adapted to their own local contexts.

By the end of the training, participants had developed practical ideas for applying the methodology in their communities and for engaging local actors in collective efforts toward longer-term social change.

MONFEMNET extends its appreciation to the Association of Parents with Children with Disabilities Mongolia for co-organising the training, to all participants for their active engagement, and to Norwegian People’s Aid for its financial support of the initiative.
