The MONFEMNET National Network, in cooperation with the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection, organised a consultation meeting bringing together 29 representatives from civil society organisations.
The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to receive updates on recent policy and legal developments related to older persons, including amendments to the Law on Older Persons, policies promoting active ageing, and new regulations concerning alternative care services.
Participants also discussed how these policies and regulations are being implemented in practice, as well as the challenges that remain in protecting and promoting the rights, wellbeing, and social protection of older persons.
A key focus of the discussion was strengthening collaboration between government institutions and civil society organisations. Participants exchanged views on how civil society can contribute more meaningfully to the implementation and monitoring of ageing-related policies and services.
The consultation also highlighted the importance of establishing more regular and structured mechanisms for cooperation between public institutions and civil society.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed to strengthen joint efforts to safeguard the rights and social protection of older persons, expand civil society engagement in policy implementation, and continue dialogue on emerging issues related to ageing and care.
