The MONFEMNET National Network organised a meeting to present the findings of the assessment, “The State of Comprehensive Sexuality Education for Diverse and Marginalized Groups Outside the Formal Education System.”
Since 2014, MONFEMNET has been a member of the Asia-Pacific Capacity Building and Advocacy Network on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and a partner of ARROW, implementing the “SRHR for All” programme. As part of this work, the Network has conducted analyses, assessments, and research to better understand the state of sexual and reproductive health and rights in Mongolia.
Young people continue to face a range of sexual and reproductive health challenges, while many lack access to accurate, evidence-based, and scientifically grounded information that responds to their needs. Limited access to reliable information can increase their vulnerability to health risks, misinformation, discrimination, and other adverse outcomes.
Recognising comprehensive sexuality education as an important foundation for supporting young people to make informed decisions about their health, rights, and relationships, MONFEMNET conducted the assessment to examine how accessible such education is outside the formal education system, particularly for young people from diverse and marginalised groups.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the key findings of the assessment and reflected on the current situation. They also discussed recommendations and possible areas for collective advocacy and action to improve both the quality and accessibility of comprehensive sexuality education.
The discussion provided a space for civil society organisations and other stakeholders to consider existing gaps and identify ways to ensure that comprehensive sexuality education is more inclusive, responsive, and accessible to young people with diverse needs and experiences.
The final assessment report will be published soon.
