Transforming Masculinities towards Gender Justice 

Goal: To promote the transformation of the inherently hierarchical, unjust and authoritarian institutions, systems and culture of patriarchy in order to enable individuals, communities and the society to freely develop their potential in an egalitarian, non-violent, non-discriminatory, inclusive and pluralist environment.

Content: Politics, politicization and power; democracy, state and civil society; democratic representation and elections; human dignity and social justice; human rights; gender equality and gender-based discrimination; people-centered advocacy; human rights-based approach; horizontal leadership; personal and social transformation; diversity and fluidity of sex, gender and sexuality; patriarchy and power systems; dominant masculinities.

Participants: Masculinities have drawn a growing number of diverse groups, including women’s rights NGOs representatives, youth of both genders, teenage mothers, young family, sexuality minorities, ethnic minority, disabled men, social workers, artisanal miners, human rights activists and government organizations’ representatives such as Police, Gender Equality Committee and National Human Rights Committee.
