The “Voices of Herder Women” consultation meeting was held in Bayandun Soum, Dornod Province, on 19–20 March 2026, bringing together herder women from the soum and surrounding areas to share their experiences, concerns, and priorities.
The consultation forms part of a series of community-based activities to be implemented over a three-year period, with the aim of strengthening the collective voice, participation, and organising of herder women.
During the meeting, participants reflected on their daily lives and discussed some of the most pressing challenges they face, including issues related to care responsibilities, access to social services, and the realities of living and working in rural and herding communities.
Participants also exchanged views on the importance of strengthening herder women’s participation, representation, and leadership in decision-making processes, and discussed how their priorities could be better reflected in local policies, services, and development planning.
The consultation provided a space for women to connect, share experiences, identify common concerns, and consider opportunities for collective action at the local level.
Through this series of activities, MONFEMNET aims to support stronger and more sustained participation of herder women in policy discussions and decision-making processes, while ensuring that their lived experiences inform the policies and services that affect their lives.
The initiative also contributes to strengthening connections between herder women and the broader women’s and feminist movement, building a stronger foundation for collective advocacy and long-term social change.
