A consultation meeting was held with participants of the “Nomadic Mothers” Programme in Bornuur Soum, Tuv Province, providing a space for herder women to reflect on their experiences and identify their most pressing needs and priorities.
The programme is being implemented by the MONFEMNET National Network, Princess Centre NGO, Beautiful Hearts Against Sexual Violence NGO, and Steps Without Borders NGO, with the aim of developing and testing a comprehensive service model for herder women that responds to the realities of nomadic life.
During the consultation, participants shared their experiences of taking part in the programme and discussed the challenges they face in relation to care responsibilities, access to services, wellbeing, and social participation. Their perspectives will help inform the further development of programme activities and support mechanisms.
The meeting also marked the official establishment of “Lake Nomads” (Нуурын Нүүдэлчид), a support group for herder women in Bornuur Soum.
As part of this process, members elected a group leader and presented an action plan outlining their priorities and proposed activities for the coming period.
The establishment of the group creates a more consistent space for herder women to connect, support one another, share experiences, and take collective action on issues that affect their daily lives and communities.
