International Women’s Day: Advancing Equality, Dignity and Freedom for All Women and Girls

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, MONFEMNET extends warm greetings to all women and girls.

International Women’s Day is not only a moment of celebration. It is also an opportunity to recognise the history of women’s movements and struggles for equality, reflect on the progress that has been achieved, and acknowledge the challenges that continue to affect the rights, freedoms, and dignity of women and girls.

Women’s paid and unpaid labour, care work, leadership, knowledge, and voices make essential contributions to families, communities, economies, and society as a whole. Yet inequalities in access to opportunities, resources, safety, and decision-making continue to persist.

We therefore continue to work toward:

• equal opportunities for all;
• a life free from violence and discrimination; and
• equal and meaningful participation in decision-making.
